He married Dolores Edith (Meurer) Vaubel in June 1954 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, Blue Earth County, and they were married until Robert's death on June 27, 1991. He had children Colleen Vaubel, Steven Vaubel, Daniel Vaubel, Timothy Vaubel, Patrick Vaubel, Rebecca Lynn (Vaubel ) Sandmeyer Hollerich, Michael Vaubel, Bernadette (Vaubel) Schendel, and Renee (Vaubel) Mann. Robert Vaubel was buried on June 27, 1991 at At home Chapman St Mankato Mn - Now known as 616 LeHillier St. Mankato Mn, in Mankato.

    Robert Vaubel was born to Clayton and Pearl (Bunde)Vaubel. He married Dolores Vaubel in June of 1954. Together they raised 9 children, Colleen, Steven, Daniel, Timothy, Patrick, Rebecca, Michael, Bernadette, and Renee. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. His career included working at Continental Can Company and being a volunteer fireman for South Bend Township. In his spare time he could be found the his garage tinkering on car bodies.

    Robert was raised Lutheran but switched to Catholic when he married Dolores. They were married at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato and attended St. John’s Catholic Church until St. Joseph the Worker was built. They were proud to be founding members of that church.

    Retired Continental Can Co. employee Robert W. Vaubel, 68, died Thursday, June 27, 1991, at his home in LeHillier. Services will be 10:30 a.m. at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato, the Rev. Donald Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with an 8 p.m. prayer service t the Woodlawn Hills Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to the building fund of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Mr. Vaubel was born June 21, 1923, in St Paul, to Clayton and Pearl (Bunde) Vaubel. He attended District 2 school, Lincoln School and the old Mankato High School. He worked as a farmhand in the early 1940s, and served n the army as a driver and motor-pool dispatcher in the Army of Occupation in Tokyo, Japan, and at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA. In 1946 and 1947 attaining the rank of technician 5. He married Dolores Meurer June 10, 1954, at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. He was employed for nearly 34 years at Continental Can Company and retired in 1986 because of ill health. He was a former member of the South Bend township board, the South Bend Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of American Legion Post 11. Mr. Vaubel is survived by his wife; sons Steven and wife, Ellen, Mankato, Daniel and wife, Kristy, of Garden City, Timothy and wife, Karen, of North Mankato, Patrick of Mankato, and Michael of Morristown; daughters Colleen Vaubel of Lakeville, Rebecca Sandmeyer and husband, Brad, of Good Thunder, Bernadette Schendel and husband, Robin, of Mankato, and Renee Mann and husband, Keith, of Lake Crystal; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, and a brother.
