Don retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in 2012 after 30 years of employment with the state of Ohio. He was extremely close with his colleagues and enjoyed spending time outside of work doing various activities together. In his free time, he enjoyed numerous outdoor activities including beekeeping, fishing, coon hunting, and gardening. He was also known for canning and baking. His favorite thing to do however was spending time with his two grandsons, Eddie and Ollie. They were truly the light of his life.
