Kelley (Daughter)
Doris was my Mother. She had a really hard life and I don’t believe it got better when she married my dad (John). Her Mom died when she was around 3 years old. My pawpaw, William Gray lost it and went into the military abandoning my mom and Aunt Hellen. Anywho, while Mom was married to John she birthed 5 kids. She worked very hard to keep her five kids fed with a roof over their heads. Waited tables as far back as I can remember at Old South pancake house then for Mexican Inn and short time for the Kettle, she eventually ended her career as a waitress at Old Mexico for Rudy Blanco until it went out of business. She worked at McDonalds until her health would not allow her to work anymore. She lived in the same house her and John bought before children, until she could no longer take care of herself. Even though my Dad married Mildred and lived across the street. The fireworks were extreme after that and we were well known in Richland Hills until Mom waved the white flag shortly after she did Dad and Sue( Mildred 2nd & 3rd wife) moved off. Good times, NOT. My Mother was someone who would help anyone until they rubbed her the wrong way and then you better look out, her horns would rear up and everyone would know. I really miss Mom now, she did all she could for her 5 kids and 4 grandkids as long as she could.
