The company that he worked for needed to find a way to control humidity and by solving this problem, Carrier created a system that could be used for cooling the rooms of a house. In 1916, at the age of just 14 years old, Dorothea was alive when the U.S. National Park Service - part of the Department of the Interior - was created by an act of Congress in August.
