    Edgar Lee Cochran was born to Levi Newton Cochran Jr (1890 - 1975) and Maudie Belle Henderson (1893 - 1978). He had siblings Elmer Richard, Mary Lou, Ada Mae, Horace Berry, Sadie Rae, Walter Dixie, Oville Neff "Kim", Bessie Grace, Edith Ruth, Dorothy Jane, and Jessie Jo Cochran. Edgar Cochran was a veteran of World War II. He served in the United States Air Force 465th Bomb Wing (SAC) in Warner Robins, Georgia. serving in the south Pacific from October 1943 to May 1945, he worked as a light truck mechanic as a technician 5th grade. He was honorably discharged on December 9, 1945. Staff Sergeant Edgar Lee Cochran married Dorothy Neil Pontruff in 1945 and they had children Terry Lee, Gerald Wayne, Gary Michael, Donald Eugene, Peggy Sue, and Janet Lei Cochran. Edgar died just one year before he was scheduled to retire from the Air Force.
