I've "rescued" an old photograph of Edith M. TYER which was taken at the Purdy Studio in Boston, MA in about 1898. Edith would appear to be in her teens at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Edith and her family:

Edith Margaret TYER was b. 19 Aug 1880 in Andover, MA to Horace Henry TYER (1844-1907) and Catherine or Katharina Susan BUSS (b. 1854). Edith was one of four children born to this couple including, Edith Margaret; Carrie Elizabeth; Henry George; and Frances Louise TYER, all born between 1879 and 1886. Edith married Professor Donald MCFAYDEN (b. 1876 in Owens Sound, Ontario, Canada-1951 – son of Charles MCFAYDEN and Mary A. KENNEDY) on 19 Aug 1908 in Andover, MA and together they had a daughter, Mary C. MCFAYDEN b. 1915 in Colorado who married Mr. BISHOP.

Edith died 10 Mar 1858 in St. Louis, MO and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bel-Nor, MO.

Glasses used to be a sign of something "wrong" - now they're a fashion statement. This girl, circa 1898 looks strong and proud - glasses and all.
