    Edward E. Harper Obituary Edward E. Harper, 72, of 23 Fluvanna Ave., died at 8:13 P.M. Thursday (Aug. 12, 2004) in WCA Hospital. He was born July 18, 1932 in Webster County, W.Va., a son of Coy and Mabel Cowger. He was raised by his step father, Fred Totino, and attended schools in West Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from Oct. 2, 1952 to October 11, 1955. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he had been employed as a foreman at Falconer Plate Glass, and in earlier years had worked as a coal miner in West Virginia. He attended God?s Country Chapel and was a member of the War Veterans Recreation Club. Always a happy person with a great sense of humor, he was family oriented and enjoyed being with people and especially liked having children around him. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vegetable gardening. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Himes, whom he married March 25, 1975 in Falconer; a son, Rex E. Harper of Jamestown; two daughters: Sherry E. Lipscomb of Pennsboro, W. Va., and Sheila J. Lipscomb of West Union, W. Va.; a step son, Gary Martz of Jamestown; three step daughters: Teri Engblom and Tammy Harper of Jamestown, and Patty Van Guilder of Falconer; eleven grandchildren: Ciearra Harper, Ian Richard, Danielle, Coty, Keli (Haines), Jamie, Cori, Lee, and Joshua Lipscomb, Faye Stoskoski, and Nikki Harper; eight step grandchildren: Lisa Neal, Chad Schuler, Charles and Jamie Van Guilder, Amanda Martz, and Matthew, Andrew, and Aaron Harper; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters: Josephine Cogar of W.Va. and Kathleen Cogar of Ohio; and a brother, Andrew Harper of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Harper; a sister, Susan Totino; three brothers: Jimmy, Frank, and Fred Totino; and a step granddaughter, Christine Van Guilder. The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Leroy Walker, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded by members of John W. Tiffany Post #53, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in Randolph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.
