He was in a relationship with Mary Elizabeth (Molson) Lyons, and had children Louisa Ann Lyons, William Cummins Lyons, Robert Emory Lyons, Matilda J. Lyons, Edward Ivens Lyons, and Sarah Bell Lyons. Edward Lyons died at age 63 years old on July 9, 1903 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, and was buried at Lost Creek Presbyterian 517 Main St, in McAlisterville.
