He had siblings Daniel David Drew, Violet May Drew, Gertrude Mary "Gertie" Drew, Mary Margaret "Beanie" Drew, Francis Joseph Drew, Basil Drew, Leonard Wilton Drew, Albert Leslie Drew, and Vincent Thomas Drew. He married Mary Ellen (Burke) Drew, and had children Edward Patrick Drew, Mary Margaret Drew, Ethel Veronica Drew, and James Francis Drew. Edward Drew died at age 64 years old on July 27, 1947 in Warrnambool.

Guiteau was "offended" because his job applications had been rejected by Garfield's government.
