Edward T. Buck was born in Pennsylvania to Ilene G Buck and Ida M. Buck. Both of his parents had been born in Pennsylvania. Edward Buck married Pearl Adams in 1926 and they had five children: Carolyn, Edith, Edward "Teddy", Ellsworth, and Barbara Buck. They eventually had 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A lifelong teacher, Edward also published a book: "The Appalachian Bobcat and all its North American Kin".

Edward married Pearl and they had five children. They also had 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. On his WWII draft registration card, dated February of 1942, Ed was described as 5 feet 11.5 inches, and 180 pounds. He had blue eyes, brown hair, and a "light brown" complexion.
