Edwin D. Parks
Edwin D. Parks was my father.
He grew up in rural Knox and Fulton Countries in Central Illinois.
After graduating high school, he completed one year of college with the U of I. For a few years, he worked with his father in the family farm implement business. He was in the Illinois National Air Guard. Following the Guard, he went into banking. He worked 20 years at the same bank. He worked his way up the ladder. His final position was president.
He had a great love of flying. He was in the air any time he had the opportunity. He owned a Bonanza Beechcraft which was his pride and joy.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed working with his hands building things.
He enjoyed gardening, particularly growing horseradish. He took pride in preparing pint jars of horseradish to give to friends. And it was good stuff!
He had a wife, a son and two daughters.
