Edwin was the son of Thomas and Mary (Jenkins) who were married in 1820 in Glasbury, Wales. they had 7 sons John (1821-1869) Thomas (1822-1894) Walter (1824-1863) William (1825-1903) James (1827-1902) Edwin (1829-1909) and Philip (1831-1910) Edwin emigrated to Australia with his brother Thomas in 1857 arriving in Port Philip, 1859 saw Thomas jailed for being in possession of a stolen horse and spent time in Pentridge Stockade he then went on to live in New Zealand where he ran a Hotel, Edwin stayed in Australia living in various places and setting up a company. his child Francis De Winton the name comes from where he was born in Glasbury, the De Winton family were the local Gentry and lived in the manor house, another of his children is named Edward Gwynne Kitchingman this is after his uncle Edward Gwynne who was married to his mothers sister Jennet, they ran a Pub in Glasbury the Castle Inn which is where Edwins mother Mary died of Typhus. there is plenty of info about Edwin in the old papers of Australia plus he filed a patent for a paint formula for painting the bottom of boats. the 1851 England Census see's Edwin working for a Draper in Shewsbury.
