On November 1, 1909 he married Emma Jane Beardslee (1887-1962) in Ashkum, Iroquois, Illinois, USA. Together they had children Charles Arthur (1922-2020) and Clarence Edward Booi (1926-2005). He registered for both the World War I and World War II drafts and worked as a butcher in Kankakee, Illinois.

The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.
