Eleanor K. Fischer Meyer

I have two old photographs belonging to the FISCHER Family of Ohio. The first is a photograph of Theodore FISCHER and his wife from Minster, OH which appears to have been taken in the 1880’s with the couple likely in their 20’s to 30’s at the time the photograph was taken. The photograph was taken at the F. W. Greber’s Studio in New Bremen, OH. A note on the back of the photograph also suggests that a 16x20 version of the photograph was ordered.

The second photograph is one of Eleanor FISCHER MEYER which was also taken at the F. W. Greber’s Studio in New Bremen, OH. This photograph looks to have been taken in the 1880’s or early 1890’s with Eleanor about one year old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

Theodore “Theo” FISCHER was b. Dec 1857 in Auglaize County, OH to parents Bernard FISCHER (1827-1908) and Elizabeth POPPENBORG (1826-1868). In 1888 Theo married Elizabeth KRAMPE (1860-1939) and they had 10 children including Anton; Eleanora or Eleanor or Elenora Katherine or Catharine; Josaphina or Josephine or Josephina M.; Frances J.; Anna; Mathilda or Matilda; Herbert Byron; Louis August FISCHER and two other Baby Girls, all born between 1890 and 1909. Theodore died 8 Feb 1934 in Auglaize County, OH and he is buried in the Saint Augustines Cemetery in Minster, OH.

Eleanor K. FISCHER was born 9 or 10 Feb 1890 to the parents shown above and she married Alexander “Alex” Ben MEYER (1884-1974) on 6 Jun 1911 in the St. Augustine’s Church in Minster, OH. Eleanor died 4 May 1946 in Lima, OH and she is buried in Minster, OH. Her obituary lists her surviving siblings including Josephine BERNING of Minster, OH; Frances STUEVE of Dayton, OH; Anna MEYER of Minster, OH; Matilda BENSMAN of Minster, OH; and Herbert and Louis FISCHER both of Minster, OH.
