She had siblings Ethel Jane Cowell, Pauline Donelly Cowell, Walter Gordon Cowell, Edward Alfred Cowell, and John Thomas Cowell. She married Harry Melville Ambrose Simmons in 1900, and had children Roseina Madge Simmons and Dorothy Linda Amelia Simmons. Eliza Simmons died at age 57 years old on October 13, 1939 in Yarram.
