Eliza Agnes (Glass) Shankly was born in 1889 in Sale, VIC Australia to Mary Jamieson (Black) Glass and Samuel Stephen Glass, and had siblings Margaret Mary Maud (Glass) Smith, Matthew Ernest William Glass, and Samuel Albert Glass. She married Norman John Shankly, and had children Valentine John Shankly and Norman Stephen Shankly. Eliza Shankly died at age 89 years old on July 9, 1979 in Malvern East, and was buried on July 11, 1979 at Brighton General Cemetery in Caulfield South.

Introduction

The Gippsland Times 1917. (Jan.) A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Luke's, North Fitzroy on the 24th ult., when Mr.Norman John Shankly, solicitor , eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Shankly of Raymond street, Sale, was united by Rev. A. E. Britten, in the holy bonds of matrimony, to Miss Lyla Glass, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Glass, of Mernda, formerly head teacher of Longford state school.

On 9th July, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Hospital, Lyla, loved and loving wife of Norman ( dec. ), dear mother of Shirley ( dec. ) Norman Kenneth, Evelyn, Hazel and Val ( dec.), mother-in-law of Marie and Rosemary, grandmother of Christine, Ian, Nell and Alan and Kay, Margaret and Robert. SHANKLY. ( Glass ). On 9th July at St.Frances Xavier Cabrini Hospital, Lyla, youngest child of the late Samuel and Mary Glass, and sister of Margaret, Will and Bert ( all dec.) formerly of Longford and Mernda.
