She had siblings Louisa Rycroft, Violet Jane Rycroft, George Emmanuel Rycroft, Lilly Rycroft, John Robert Rycroft, Edith Alice Rycroft, Agnes Septima Rycroft, Christina Rycroft, and Joseph George Rycroft. Elizabeth Rycroft died at age 65 years old in 1933 in Oak.

In 1868, in the year that Elizabeth Rycroft was born, on July 9th, The Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified. The Fourteenth Amendment guaranteed African Americans full citizenship and equal protection under the law. It also gave all persons in the United States due process of law. The former Confederate states hotly contested the amendment but were forced to go along so that they could regain representation in Congress

In 1885, when she was 17 years old, on June 17th, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor. Two hundred thousand people and hundreds of boats greeted the statue. It had to be assembled but that had to wait until the pedestal was completed the following April.
