Elizabeth Chambers, relict of the late James Chambers, passed away on Saturday at her residence, Le Bijou, Toorak-road, South Yarra, and was interred yesterday in the St. Kilda Cemetery. The deceased lady and her husband were amongst the pioneers of Prahran, the latter being one of the first to build in Chapel- street, They had a large family, one of the sons being now a member of the Prahran City Council, while another distinguished himself as a citizen a few nights ago by capturing a pair of desperate criminals. Both parents descended from a fighting stock, of men who fought in England's battles on land and sea - one under Wellington, the other under Nelson. As a mark of respect for the family in their bereavement, the Prahran City council last night adjourned for half an hour, and a letter of condolence was ordered to be sent to Cr. Chambers.
