Eric Benjamin Williams of Yallourn, Latrobe City County, VIC Australia was born in 1906 in Rutherglen, Indigo Shire County to Minnie Beatrice (Rowe) Williams and Bertram Owen Williams. He had siblings Bertram Martin Williams, Lucinda Muriel Williams, Linda Beatrice Williams, and Verner Leslie Williams. Eric Williams married Edna Myles in 1934, and died at age 58 years old in 1964 in Yallourn, Latrobe City County.

In 1906, in the year that Eric Benjamin Williams was born, abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.
