Ernest Edward Freeman 1874 - 1952

Ernest Edward Freeman of Richmond Australia was born in 1874 to Thomas Freeman and Kath Freeman. He had siblings Emma Freeman, Ann Millan Freeman, John Wade Freeman, Bernd Lionel Freeman, and Lindsay Joseph Freeman. He married Annie Leer (Bowers) Cremer Freeman in 1917, and had children Alan Leslie Freeman and Edward Freeman. Ernest Freeman died at age 78 years old in 1952 in Richmond.

In 1874, in the year that Ernest Edward Freeman was born, on September 14th, the Battle of Liberty Place occurred in New Orleans - the capital of Louisiana. Some members of the previous Confederate Army assembled for the purpose of "driving the usurpers from power" and the Republican Governor - William P. Kellogg - was physically driven from his office. The former Confederates temporarily replaced him with (the former) Democratic Governor John McEnery. Federal forces arrived, put down the insurrection, and five days later the legally elected government was restored.

In 1917, Ernest was 43 years old when Russian government offices were seized and the Romanov's Winter Palace was stormed in the Russian February and October Revolutions. The February revolution resulted in the abdication of Tsar Nicholas and a coalition of the Parliament and workers parties taking control of the government. The October revolution resulted in Lenin and the Bolsheviks taking complete control.
