Introduction

Esther H. Ludwig's father was William Benjamin Ludwig (1879 - 1960) and her mother was Carrie Lydia Deisher (1886 - 1970). When Esther was in her 30's, she was living in Shoemakersville, where she was born and raised, with her parents. She was a bookkeeper in a chemical dry works plant. Her father was a laborer in a railroad repair shop. Her mother wasn't working. Ten years later, Esther was still living in Shoemakersville with her parents and she had never married. Dad was retired and Esther was working in a chemical company as a secretary. It seems that Esther never married and always lived in Shoemakersville until she died at the age of 99, a few months shy of 100 years old..
