She is sister to famed photojournalist and one of the first Black NASA employees-Henry L. Hooks, and great aunt to Global Activist and Equality Advocate Greshun De Bouse. Her husband, morse code expert John Willie Pugh recognized for his work amid the 1970 Texas Hurricanes, preceeded her in death.
