Eunice (Bryan) Mitting was born on December 1, 1923 in Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC Australia to Ronald Ernest Bryan and Mamie Albertha (Thomas) Bryan, and had siblings Kenneth Edward Bryan and Neil Ronald Bryan. She married William Alfred Mitting on April 5, 1947 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, in Geelong, Victoria, and they were married until death separated them. She had a child Kenneth Charles Mitting. Eunice Mitting died at age 74 years old on April 7, 1998 in Geelong, VIC, and was buried at Barrabool Hills Cemetery, Highton. Victoria 168 Barrabool Rd, in Highton.

In 1923, in the year that Eunice (Bryan) Mitting was born, Harlem's Cotton Club opened in New York City. Owned by a bootlegger and gangster, it was a 700 seat speakeasy that catered to a "white only" clientele. But most of the entertainers were African-American and featured some of the best entertainers of the time such as Lena Horne, the Nicholas Brothers, Ethel Waters, and Cab Calloway.

In 1944, Eunice was 21 years old when on June 22nd, the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, called the G.I. Bill, was signed into law, pushed through by the veteran's organizations. Benefits provided for veterans to return to school (high school, vocational school, or college), obtain low interest home mortgages and low interest business loans, and (if needed) one year of unemployment insurance. Since most returning vets immediately found work, less than 20% of the unemployment benefits were distributed.
