As Bold as the ocean,she stood.As gentle as a flower, she cared. As precious as a jewel and rarer than any coin, Eveyn Vernita Ham defined love. Evelyn Vernita Ham was born February 5, 1950 in Chicago,Illinois to the union of Vivian and Hugh Crooks,Sr. She was the 2nd oldestof three children.Her father Hugh Crooks Sr. and sister Dena Curl preceded her in death. Evelyn was introduced to Christ at an early age and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Evelyn attented Wiggins Elementary, Betsy Ross Middle School. She later attended Job Corps where she received her High school Diploma. She was employed for a short time at Servicon Systems. Evelyn married LW Ham jr. August 7, 1977. They was married for 37 years.Ham was a devoted, Loving Husband. They stood by each side through thick and thin.The memory of her life will be etched in the hearts and mind of her loving husband,chlidren and grandchildren. She leave to mourn a loving husband, L.W. Ham jr.; Mother Vivian L. Crooks; Brother Hugh Crooks Jr. ( Yoko);children: Charles Alan Edwards (Antoine) and Dominick Edwards. (Tasha); Daugher Lanita Ham (Woody) and Tina B. Whitehead (who she raised): Charles ( Justine), Talia, Justin, Porsha, Dominique,Dominick jr., Jordan, Leroy, Lenysha, Paris, and Damani; great grandchildren:Destinee, Kai, Isabella, Tasia, Saniyah, Brandon, Tanaya, and two God kids Deangla and Brian,and a host of nieces, nephews,family and friends.
