    Queenie Jay traveled on the Empress of Ireland with her mother and 4 younger siblings as 3rd class. The family traveled to visit England. Empress of Ireland collided with a Norwegian liner at Saint Lawrence river in the middle of a fog and sank in only 14 minutes. Most 3rd class passengers were trapped below the flooded decks during the collision. Queenie perished in the disaster with her mother and 4 younger siblings. None of their bodies were found.
