Florence Mary (Mcglead) Alford of Northcote, City of Darebin County, VIC Australia was born in 1903 in Foster to Ellen Mary Barry Mcglead and Daniel Thomas McGlead. She had siblings Edward John Mcglead, Kathleen Millicent Mcglead, Daniel Thomas Mcglead Jr., Effie May Mcglead, Norman Stanley Mcglead, Ethel May Mcglead, Frances Edna Mcglead, Cecelia McGlead, and William Henry "Harry" McGlead. Florence Alford married William James Alford in 1925, and died at age 57 years old on May 13, 1961 in Northcote.

Renamed the Department of Commerce 10 years later, many departments concerned with workers were transferred to the Department of Labor at that time.
