Murder victim identified Written by Adam Madison and Nicholas Grube April 09, 2009 08:27 am Man’s body was found in Klamath Authorities have identified the homicide victim whose body was found Monday as Floyd Lee Underwood, 64, of Klamath. Underwood’s body was found next to his truck at the end of Wilson Creek Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office. “Everything’s a big blank right at this moment,” sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Morris said Wednesday. “No motive. No suspects.” “I believe he was shot,” Morris added. Sheriff Dean Wilson said Monday that the victim had apparently set up an arms purchase beforehand and that was where he was going when he disappeared. “They’re still trying to confirm the story that they heard about a possible gun deal,” said Morris. “We’re trying to run that one down.” The Del Norte County District Attorney’s Office has reviewed a search warrant in the case it will send to a judge for approval today, said DA Mike Riese. “We expect multiple search warrants to be issued in this case,” said Riese, but he declined to say what is being sought. Sheriff’s Commander Tim Athey said earlier Wednesday that authorities are looking at the possibility that several people may have been present at the time of the shooting. “There’s a few persons of interest, but at different calibers,” he said. “Some associated people that might be a witness or participants and the person who actually did it.” Athey said authorities believe the victim knew the killer, adding “I don’t think this was a stranger type killing.”
