    THE DOCTOR AND THE ARTILERYMAN. - South African Military History. The doctor who was left behind to look after the wounded at Talana. - Anglo Boer War. The Argus, Melbourne. 20th May 1946. - MR. F. A. B. DALY. Mr. Francis Augustus Bonner Daly, who died at his home at Portsea on Wednesday, at the age of 90, was a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He had lived at Portsea for many years. Born in Ireland in 1856, Mr. Daly joined the British Army Medical Corps as a young man and eventually rose to the rank of Liehtenant Colonel. After service with Kitchener at Khartoum, he served in the Boer War and for a time in charge of Standerton Military Hospital in Natal. As a result of his work there he was awarded the C.B. Later he served in India. On his retirement from the Army about 30 years ago, he came to Australia and settled at Portsea. Egypt Campaign -1882. Sudan Frontier Force. - 1885-86. South Africa War. - 1899-1902. Regimental Medical Officer to the Royal Irish Fusilliers.
