Francis Clay Collins was born on June 23, 1937 in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina United States. He was married to LaRue Margaret Collins in 1957 in Greensboro, Guilford County, and they were together until LaRue's death on May 18, 1999 in Greensboro. He had children Mark Anthony Collins and William Carl Collins.
