Francis Joseph Katella Jr. was born on March 10, 1950 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania United States to Francis Joseph Katella and Rose Ann Katella, and had siblings Patricia Ann Mueller, Nancy Marie Coleman, Robert James Katella, Katherine Grace Pierson, and Daniel James Katella. He married Eileen Patricia Katella in 1972 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, and they were married until Francis' death on March 31, 1974 in Philadelphia. Francis Katella was buried on April 4, 1974 at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery 1215 Super Highway, in Langhorne, Bucks County.
