He had siblings Leslie Francis Mortimer Wheelhouse, Ethel May Wheelhouse, Clarence Oswald Wheelhouse, Gladys Hazel Wheelhouse, Myrtle Hilda Victoria Wheelhouse, and Ellen Percy Wheelhouse. He married Doris May Humphries in 1929, and had children Pamela May Wheelhouse and Frederick Mortim Wheelhouse. Frederick Wheelhouse died at age 67 years old on July 31, 1969 in Kyabram.
