He had siblings Louisa Jane Storey, Priscilla Rachael Storey, Hannah Storey Nelson, and George Arthur Storey. He married Emily Littlejohn Storey in 1898, and had children Harold Henry Storey, Vera May Storey, Alma Jane Storey, and Freda Evelyn Storey. Frederick Storey died at age 72 years old on December 2, 1947 in Hampton.

In 1875, in the year that Frederick John Storey was born, on February 18th, the Mason County War, also called the Hoodoo War, began. In central Texas, a German-American mob broke into a jail with a battering ram and lynched two suspected cattle rustlers. Thus began a year of vigilante "justice."

In 1890, he was only 15 years old when on June 1st, the U.S. Census Bureau started tabulating census returns with punch cards. Herman Hollerith's "tabulating machine" used punch cards to more quickly compute census information, taking the time to get census results from 8 years in 1880 to 6 years for the 1890 census. Hollerith's company eventually became IBM.
