He grew up in Manhattan with siblings George William (1889-1918), Henrietta (1892-1941), and Theresa Marie Hohne (1898-1941). On October 25, 1919 he married Mae Brasta (1897-1959) and they were living in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA. The couple had children together, Henry William Hohne (1918-1989) and George Frederick Hohne (1925-1984).
