George Day 1882 - 1916

George Day was born in 1882 to Timothy Day and Alice (Thompson) Day, and had a brother William Day. He was in a relationship with Evaline Grace (Phillips) Day Kellett, and had children Evelyn Grace (Day) Valentine and Elsie Day. George Day died at age 33 years old on June 29, 1916 at Ballarat Base Hospital in Ballarat Central, Ballarat City County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Ballarat New Cemetery in Invermay Park.

    MELBOURNE 1916. -THE MENINGITIS PERIL.- The Age, Melbourne. 30th June 1916. DEATH OF BALLARAT FOOTBALLER. BALLARAT.- An engine driver, named George Day, died at Ballarat Hospital on Thursday from meningitis. Deceased who was married, had been for some years a leading player in the Ballarat Football Club. Two new cases of meningitis from Ballarat training camp were admitted into the hospital on Thursday. The Geelong Advertiser. 30th June 1916. BALLARAT CASES. George Day, a railway loco driver and prominent footballer, died yesterday at Ballarat from meningitis, and two privates from the Ballarat camp were admitted to the hospital suffering severely from the disease.
