After attending Denver University, Lea would later embark on a stage and screen career with her greatest achievement being cast as Dolly Tate in the 1946 Broadway Musical production of "Annie Get Your Gun", which opened at the Imperial Theatre in New York City on May 16, 1946 and ran for 1,147 performances and was the third longest running musical of the 1940s.
