George Smith Seabrook 1838 - 1906

George Smith Seabrook was born on February 7, 1838 in New Town, TAS Australia to Henry William Seabrook and Sarah (White) Seabrook, and had siblings William John Seabrook, Sarah Caroline (Seabrook) Reid, Daniel Edward Seabrook, Henry William Seabrook Jr., Emily (Seabrook) Morton, and Emma (Seabrook) Dawson. He married Helen (Walden) Seabrook. He married Margaret (Reid) Seabrook, and they had children Alice Emma Seabrook, George Henry Seabrook, and William Alexander Seabrook. George Seabrook died at age 68 years old on March 16, 1906 in Hobart, and was buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.

In 1838, in the year that George Smith Seabrook was born, on May 26th, the Native American Cherokee Nation was forced to march the Trail of Tears - relocating them to west of the Mississippi. When gold was discovered in Georgia in 1828, settlers wanted the Cherokee land. 16,543 natives were forced to march - it is estimated that 2,000 to 6,000 died along the way.
