I did not know him well. I do know that at one time he was Speaker of the California State Assembly and ripped out the direct phone line that the Governor had previously installed for the use of the prior Speaker to keep the Governor informed. Gordon was also a well know expert on the complex water issues that have been a problem for the state for decades.
