  • Personal Life & Family

    Hakumasa Hamamoto's father was born in 1877 and his mother, Sho, was born in 1878. On his October, 1940 World War II draft card, he described himself as being five feet nine inches tall and as weighing 166 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair, and a "light brown" complexion - also a mole on the left side of his forehead. Hakumasa married Hansko, born 1906 and they had one son. He then married Jean Yasuko (1912 - 1992) and they had one son and three daughters. Hakumasa was survived by his wife, Jean; sons Howard and Warren; daughters Elva, Jana, and Corday; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. See Hakumasa Hamamoto: Obituary.

    Hakumasa Hamamoto, 83, of Honolulu, died May 8th, 1988. He was born in Kawaihae, Hawaii, and was a retired deputy director for the Honolulu Redevelopment Agency. Survived by wife, Jean Hamamoto; sons, Howard H. and Warren M.; daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Elva) Goodman of Texas, Mrs. Wallace (Jana) Nitta, Mrs. Masatsugu (Corday) Iribe of California; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Service held. Arrangements by Hosoi Garden Mortuary. - Honolulu Star-Advertiser (Honolulu, Hawaii) Wednesday, May 18, 1988.
