  • Introduction

    Hector Klotey Collison was born to Martha Lee Coffee (1928 - 2005) in Washington D.C. He married and had three children, two sons and a daughter, one of whom was Sean K. Collison (1992 - 2008). Dr. Hector Collison was a well-known cardiologist who lost his life with his 15 year old son Sean when their small plane - a Cirrus SR22 - crashed around midnight in the Shenandoah Mountains near Massanutten on their way to the Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport (see Plane crash kills cardiologist, son). He worked at various hospitals in Washington, Silvery Spring, Lanham, Laurel, Cheverly, and in Rockville. Dr. Collison was one of four cardiologists who performed emergency angioplasties to widen clogged blood vessels in the heart.

  • Early Life & Education

    He attended Mackin High School in Washington, D.C. In the Mackin High School yearbook it says "Ambitious, drives the collest "T" Bird; Baseball man of Mackin. Can be found with the boys." Dr. Collison graduated from Howard University in 1976.
  • Professional Career

    Hector was a well known cardiologist who worked throughout the Washington D.C. region including at Anne Arundel Medical Center where he joined in 1986. When the staff at Anne Arundel received the news of Dr. Collison they had a moment of silence at the center's annual gala that evening in Baltimore. He also worked at hospitals in Washington, Silvery Spring, Lanham, Laurel, Cheverly, and Rockville. At Annapolis, Dr. Collison was one of four cardiologists who performed emergency angioplasties to widen clogged blood vessels in the heart. At the time of Hector's passing he was petitioning to allow the Anne Arundel Medical Center to become the state's sixth hospital to perform open-heart surgeries.

Beloved husband of Connie Collison; loving father of Corey Wallace, Kenge, Amira, and the late Sean K. Collison; son of Emmanuel Collison and the late Martha Collison. Brother of Michael Creppy, Sr. , Mark Armstrong, Craig Gilbeaux, Sr, Emmanuel, Michael, Carol, Grace, Doris and Michelle Collison. Also survived by many other relatives and friends. Plane crash kills cardiologist, son
FRONT ROYAL, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a cardiologist from Potomac, Md., and his 15-year-old son were killed when their small plane crashed moments after takeoff from Front Royal, Va.

Authorities say the Cirrus SR22 crashed about midnight Friday, killing Hector Collison and his son Sean. Authorities say they had planned to fly to Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport. The cause of the crash is not known.
