Helen Finkel Baum was such a warm, loving person. She was the last born of 8 children, the first born in America. There were the two eldest children who died at very young ages in Europe. Her elder siblings included her sisters, Gussie, Rose, and Anna, and her two elder brothers, Jack and Joe.She was a wonderful wife to my dad, Sol Baum, for 54 years. I miss her every single day. We were so alike in everything we liked, didn't like, favorite books, movies, clothing, people. She was very sentimental and cared for her family more than anything.

Helen Finkel and Sol Baum
Helen Finkel and Sol Baum
This photo of my parents, Helen Finkel and Sol Baum, was taken on a date shortly after they met. It was probably 1936 or so. The car was a prop. They married as soon as dad got home from WWII, in February 1946, and were together for 54 years until his death in December of 2000. Written in mom's handwriting across the photo is: "Having a wonderful time". They met on a school boat ride when they were 14, in 1934. They both went to Seward Park High School, in lower Manhattan.

A photo of my parents, Sol and Helen (Finkel) Baum. The second they were married! My father wore a top hat and, I think, tails! They loved each other so much and I miss them every day!
