He had one full brother, Rufus Mason Walker, and three half siblings: Jessie, Grace, and Pearle Walker. During World War II, Henry Walker was a member of the State Guard. Henry was survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    HENRY C. WALKER, 85, OF W'TOWN Henry Clarence Walker, 85, of 36 Nutmeg Lane (The SPruces), Williamstown, died Tuesday, APril 15, 1997, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Williamstown on January 16, 1912, he was a son of Henry H. and Elizabeth Upton (Hathaway) Walker. He attended schools in Williamstown, and was a 1930 graduate of the former Williamstown High School and a 1932 graduate of Bliss Business School, North Adams. He first worked for the First National Store in Adams as a manager. In 1933, he went to work for the A&P in Williamstown, where he became manager of the store that was located where the savings bank now stands. He was assistant manager of the new larger store when it moved. He had worked for the food chains for 42 years before retiring in 1975. Mr. Walker was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Williamstown, the Williamstown Lions Club and a member of the Williams Lodge AF&AM, Williamstown. During World War II, he was a member of the State Guard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Bernice Maude Moon, whom he married March 6, 1938, at the First Congregational Church, Williamstown; two daughters, Mrs. Peter (Jacqueline) Treybal of Shelburne Falls, Vermont, and Mrs. Alan (Barbara) Skiest of Richmond, Virginia; a son, Joel Francis Walker of Granby; a brother Rufus M. Walker of Williamstown; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel, Williamstown, with the Reverend Daniel Daniels of the First Methodist Church, Williamstown, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the Hopkins Funeral Home, Williamstown, are Friday, 7 - 9 p.m. with a Masonic prayer service by Williams Lodge at 8:30 p.m. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Lions Club Eye Research through the funeral home, 61 - 67 Spring Street, Williamstown, Massachusetts. - North Adams Transcript (North Adams, Massachusetts) Wednesday, April 16, 1997 on page 2.
