Henry Stacey 1882 - 1962

Henry Stacey of Preston Australia was born in 1882 in Fitzroy to Mary Thurlby (Lancaster) Stacey and Henry Evan "Harry" Stacey. He had siblings Alice Lavina (Stacey) Bennell, Edith Louisa (Stacey) Long, Minnie Thurlby (Stacey) Leslie, Louisa Edith Gore, Ethel Elizabeth (Stacey) Dight, Jessie (Stacey) Wakeum, Theodore Lancaster Stacey, and Charles Roy Stacey. He married Theresa Jane (Mateer) Stacey in 1909, and had a child Henry Bertram Stacey. Henry Stacey died at age 79 years old in July 1962 in Preston, Victoria.

"Criminals, the insane, or any person unable to take care of him or herself" were not allowed in the U.S. according to the Act. It also imposed a "head tax" on non-citizens entering the U.S.
