Henry Winfree Higgason of Richmond, Virginia United States was born on April 16, 1885 to Chastain Arthur Higgason and Pauline Thompson Hartz. He had siblings John Wesley Higgason, Sr., Roberta Estelle Higgason, Harvey Arthur Higgason, Angie May Higgason, and Woodie B. (Higgason) McCandless. Henry Higgason died at age 92 years old on April 14, 1978 in Harrisonburg.

  • Introduction

    Henrry stated on his military registration that he was born in Ashland, Hanover, VA. In 1900 he resided in Brookland, Henrico, VA. He enlisted in the US Navy on 10 Jan 1903. In 1910, he was back in Brookland, Henrico, VA, and he married twice, first to Gracie Lee Pietri (1890- ) on 8 Oct 1914 in Washington, DC. In 1917-18, he lived at Richmond Lee Ward, Richmond, VA. Iin 1930, he lived in Richmond as a roomer at 3111 Hanes Ave. He married secondly on 22 Jun 1938 in Richmond, VA, to Theresa Hudson Childress (1888-1983), and in 1940, they resided at 313 Essex Pl in Richmond. They still resided in the same place from 1940 until 1960 or possibly after that. He died on 14 Apr 1978 in Harrisonburg, VA, and is buried at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery in Brook Hill, Henrico, VA, after 14 Apr 1978. With his first wife, he had two children: Grover L. Higgason (1912- ) and Rosa E. Higgason (1917- ).
