  • Introduction

My Daddy was 6 ft tall with brown/black hair and pretty light blue eyes. Thurman was his older brother, who died early in life, and that was a great loss to my Dad. My dad finished 4th grade. He and Thurman, being the two oldest were made to work and support the family. My dad had a generous toward his family-he gave up his education to support them. It was reported by his cousin, that my Dad lived a hard life, until he moved out of the house. The dependency of the family on him lingured on even until I was about 8 years old. Dad was hard working and friendly. He loved to tell family stories. When he was very young, he contracted yellow fever that damaged his hearing 80% deaf in one and 50% deaf in the other ear. I grew up yelling...we all did.
