College, Harris-street, Ultimo, yesterday
afternoon, Charles Edward Bland, of Irvine
Street, Randwick, slipped and fell 22ft, to
the ground. His injuries were severe, and
he was taken by the Civil Ambulance to
the Sydney Hospital, where he died a few
hours after admission.

Bertha was my great aunt. I only met her a few times, but she made a impression on me. She was much taller than her sister Angie my great grandmother. She stood very erect and moved her head quickly. Her husband's name was OSS Bland. I think that's how it was spelled. I remember it being said the marriage was not approved of, not sure of the reason. About the only story I remember about her. She burned a pile of leaves in the back yard of Angie's in Clovis Ca. At the time wouldn't have been to big of deal however Angie had hidden a unknown amount of cash stashed in that pile total loss. The only place of residence I'm aware of was the little house next to the ? Baptist church in Blythe Ca close to the KFC. When I locate a few pictures I will post them.

Marguet (pronounced Margaret) was my mother. 5'08" originally Dark Brown Hair and Blue Eyes. Married my Dad, Holden Bland, in Vera, TX when she was 16 and my Dad was 24. They had a baby girl that did not come to full term (8 mo. justation) and is buried in Vera, TX then four other children Perry Lee, Edith Lanell (Hanson, Dimmitt, TX), Holden Eugene, Norma Jean (Callighan, Justin, TX). My Mother's parents James Kuykendall/Myrtle Snody. My mother said her daddy' s heritage was Black Dutch. James was the constable and blacksmith in Vera, TX. My mother was 1 of eight children: Cleo (Nelson), Perry T. (Archer City, Van (Seymore, TX), Juanita (Purdom Lubbock), Trula (Nelson-Burchett, Archer City, TX), Althea (Dolly) (Walker of Morenci, AZ), Cora Bell (Knox City, TX).
Mother was out going, friendly, generous, self sacrificing, a great sense of humor, her eyes would say it all; she loved to cheat a games...she thought it was funny; she was fierce, when it came to her children. She had a- never give up spirit. She would never apologize, when she wronged someone. I was not her favorite, but I loved her so. Miss her greatly.
She died April 12, 2011 her bowels quit working (I suspect she took too many laxatives) and they let her starve to death under sedation. Holden Eugene, my brother, stayed by my mother's side, until her death. I miss being able to call her on the way home from work every day. Miss you, Mom! Norma Jean Bland Callighan
