Dorothy Eveline (Brabin) Bland of Wahroonga, NSW Australia was born on August 28, 1925 to George Douglas Brabin and Eveline Crystal (Barrow) Brabin. She had siblings Helen Margaret (Brabin) Hillyer and Marie Agnes (Brabin) Keefe. She married Robert Charles Bland on September 10, 1949 at St. Paul's Church, in Wahroonga, New South Wales, and they were married until death separated them. Dorothy Bland died at age 94 years old on June 18, 2020.

In 1925, in the year that Dorothy Eveline (Brabin) Bland was born, in July, the Scopes Trial - often called the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher for teaching evolution in school. Tennessee had enacted a law that said it was "unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The teacher was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Tennessee upheld the law but overturned the guilty verdict.

Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
