Isabella Frances (Croucher) Jones was born in 1856 in Beechworth, Indigo Shire County, VIC Australia to George Alexander Croucher and Elizabeth (Grey) Croucher, and had siblings Henry Joseph Croucher and Arthur John Croucher. She married Peter Jones, and had children George Jones, Walter Jones, and William Jones. Isabella Jones died at age 75 years old on August 4, 1932 in Leichhardt, Inner West Council County, NSW, and was buried at Rookwood Cemetery in Lidcombe, Cumberland Council County.

In 1856, in the year that Isabella Frances (Croucher) Jones was born, on January 26th the Battle of Seattle occurred. Marines from the ship the USS Decatur, stationed in Elliott Bay, along with about 50 Seattle settlers, fought Native Americans in the area. Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens had declared a "war of extermination" on Native communities 5 days before.
