    Ivan's parents were Klara (Raab) and Ladislav "Leslie" Reitman. Both parents were Jewish - his father was in the underground resistance fighter movement and his mother survived Auschwitz. The family emigrated to Canada when Ivan was 4 years old. According to Wikipedia, Ivan was " a Czechoslovak-born Canadian film and television director, producer and screenwriter. He was best known for his comedy work, especially in the 1980s and 1990s. He was the owner of The Montecito Picture Company, founded in 1998." He directed "Meatballs", "Stripes", "Ghostbusters", "Ghostbusters 2", "Twins", "Kindergarten Cop", "Dave", and "Junior" Ivan produced "Animal House", "Beethoven", "Space Jam" and "Private Parts". He married Geneviève Robert in 1976 and they had 3 children.

RIP Mr. Reitman. Last Saturday, we all lost someone who put a smile on our faces and laughter in our hearts. You don't recognize him? Well, he directed "Meatballs", "Stripes", "Ghostbusters", "Ghostbusters 2", "Twins", "Kindergarten Cop", "Dave", and "Junior" as well as producing many more popular films.


Yes, RIP - we will miss you and how you entertained us.
