  • Introduction

    Jack's parents were Mary Schoonmaker and John Henry Teepe. Both had been born in Iowa. Jack was the 4th child born into the family. He had brother Allen and 4 sisters, Arlene, Ellen, Marilyn, and Betty. According to the 1950 federal census, Jack was living with his parents John Henry and Mary E Teepe and siblings Betty J. (13) and Allen L. (11) in Floyd Iowa. Jack was 16 and a farm helper, not paid. Dad John was a farmer on his own farm. Jack married Dixie Van DeMaat on November 4, 1956, in Nashua Iowa. Dixie was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Van DeMaat. They married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua Iowa and moved to a farm near Floyd Iowa after their marriage. John Henry, Jack's father, died just a few months before they married (in June 1956). When his father died, Jack was in military service. Wedding announcement

The marriage of Miss Dixie Van DeMaat, daughter or Mr. and Mrs. Merle Van DeMaat, is being announced. She became the bride of Jack De Teepe, son of Mrs. Mary Teepe, Floyd, at 3pm Sunday in the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple will live on a farm near Floyd.
