    James Charles Gray Sr. passed away December 30, 2009, at the age of 67. He was the son of the late Edward and Elma Gray. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his ever loving wife Cheri. He is survived by his 5 children: Patti Davis and husband Keith, James Gray Jr. and wife Marta, Gary Slayton and wife Lucy, Jacky Gray and Catherine Blythe: 7 grandchildren: Taryin, Logan, Jake, Jasmine, Kelton, Aaron and Candice, as well as many loving friends and wonderful family – Suzie and Jerry Damm, Antha Darnell and his dog Killer. He will be forever loved, missed and remembered.

In 1942, in the year that James C. Gray was born, due to World War II, automobile production in the United States was stopped on February 1st. A tire rationing program had begun the month before. Detroit - the main hub of car manufacturing - was ordered to free up assembly lines for military production. The president of the Automobile Manufacturers Association said “The automotive industry is in this war all the way". Some dealerships had to close and others expanded their repair shops. The used car market boomed (as did a black market in used cars).
